まちなかアートめぐり2018の展示

　藤沢今昔・まちなかアートめぐり2018では、今年も旧稲元屋呉服店に
展示しています。ただし、内蔵前には2011年以来で7年ぶりです。

　この作品については今年は海外作家も参加しているので英語でのプレゼンテーションも
意識して文章化してみました。
展示場所がかなり高いため、写真は角度が付きすぎています。

　ことを英訳も意識して記してみた

　今年発表した私の絵に描かれた、触覚と後ろ足が長いこれらの昆虫たちは
コオロギに近縁の種類だが、他の種類のように羽を擦り合わせて音を出すことは
ない。伝統的な土間のかまどに住むもの、または倉の中に住む種類もある。彼らは
どちらかと言えば、多くの人々に陰気で不快なイメージを持たれている昆虫である。

　私にとって面白いことにいつの時代からかわからないが、昔の日本人は彼らの
長い顔に馬を連想したらしい。そのユニークなネーミングはそれぞれ直訳すれば、
かまどの馬(カマドウマ)、倉に住む馬(クラズミウマ)、という具合になる。
私は目立たず、好かれもしないこれらの存在に気づき、ユニークな名をつけた感性に
敬意を表したい。

　それともううひとつ重要なテーマに、日本の伝統的な夏の儀式にお盆がある。
今の暦では8月の半ばにひととき、祖先の霊を迎える習慣だが、その時期に
休暇では祖先の霊が早く来られるように胡瓜で作った馬と、ゆっくり帰ってもらう
意味で、茄子で作った牛を設置する。これらを精霊馬(しょうりょううま)と呼ぶ。

　そうした不思議な意味を帯びた「馬たち」が集う場所と時間を
描いたのが今回の作品である。

These insects drawn in my paintings released this year,
with long tactile and hind legs, are closely related to crickets,
but as with other types they do not rub out wings
and produce sound. There are things that live
in a traditional cobbled oven, or some that live in a warehouse.
They are, rather, insects that are drowsy and unpleasant
images to many people.

It is interesting to me that I do not know from when,
but old Japanese seemed to associate horses with their long face.
The unique naming of each will be translated directly
into a horse (Camado Uma) in a furnace,
a horse in Kuramura (Kurazumi Uma), and so on.
I am aware of these beings that are not noticeable and not liked,
and I want to express respect for the unique name.

Another important theme is the traditional Japanese
summer ceremony. In the current calendar
it is a custom of greeting an ancestor's spirit momentarily
in the calendar of the ancestor, with a horse made with cucumber
so that the ancestral spirit will come soon in vacation at that time,
in that time, made with eggplant in the sense
that you will return home slowly Install a cow.
We call these as a psycho horse (shōryou Uma).

It is the work of this time that depicted the place
and time where "horse" gathered such a mysterious meaning gather.
